This year I’m making a few revisions in my life instead of resolutions that never seem to make it past January. I’m not buying into a new year a new you because really I’m ok with me I could just use a few revisions. To make this process simple and obtainable I have set only two intentions for myself this year.
- Balance – every day
- Self Care – every day
Sounds pretty vague you say? Yes, that was intentional. Let me explain. If I can do one thing every day to find balance in my busy life and practice self-care I will consider that a success. How do I plan on doing this?
- Be present in each moment, not constantly thinking of what is next
- Master the art of saying “no” and not be sorry (this is huge for me)
- Set my intentions in the morning for the day ahead
- Align my heart and head so I am not pulled in different directions
For me, balance means more often than not feeling calm, grounded, clearheaded and motivated. Balance will look different for each person and I hope you find balance in what it means to you.
- Be kind to me
- Exercise each day
- Meditate each day
- Journal each night
- Get 7 hours of sleep each night
Personally, I have found guided meditations to be very helpful and one of my favorite mediation apps is Buddhify. There are meditations to reduce stress, help you go to sleep, meditate on a work break, deal with emotions and so many more. The best part is you can set the length of the meditations based on how much time you have and they even have meditations for kids.
I have also found that journaling has been incredibly enjoyable and much easier to stick to with these three books.
